Two people have been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the December 15, 2019, stabbing of a 22-year-old man found in the driveway of a Port St. Lucie home.

Port St. Lucie police said the victim was stabbed by a 26-year-old man after he confronted the man over his treatment of a 20-year-old woman. According to police, the assailant and the woman were dating. The man was also charged with aggravated battery with great bodily harm and tampering with evidence, while the woman faces charges of tampering with evidence, and first-degree felony accessory after the fact.

When police arrived at the home before 4 a.m., the victim was lying in the driveway next to a Dodge station wagon with a stab wound to the lower abdomen, according to an arrest affidavit. The vehicle was on, and police saw blood on the passenger side, and the passenger side mirror was broken, the report said.

The victim, who told police that he was stabbed at a club, was airlifted to a regional medical center where he later died.

Police Investigated Finding

A police investigation found that there had been a gathering at the home where the man was found stabbed in the driveway. The couple had an argument in the car and the man grabbed the woman to stop her from leaving.

According to police, the stabbing victim, who did not like the way the man was treating the woman, approached the man. Police said the man took out a knife and showed it to the victim. The victim, however, charged the man who then stabbed him, according to the arrest affidavit.

The lady told police that she attempted to flush the knife down a toilet. The knife, though, was later located inside an SUV.

Defendants in Need of Legal Representation
