Man Arrested for Possession of 69 Grams of Ketamine

In early November 2018, police in Jensen Beach stopped a bicyclist for riding without lights. The cyclist told them he didn’t want to stop and attempted to flee, but the deputies managed to detain him and found that he was carrying a bag of ketamine, which is often used for anesthesia.

After transporting him to the station, police also found rock-like objects in their recently cleaned squad car, which later tested positive for crack cocaine.

The man, a Hollywood, Florida resident, was charged with resisting arrest without violence, possession of a controlled substance, introduction of contraband, and trafficking ketamine. Undoubtedly he will be looking for a drug possession criminal lawyer, considering the serious penalties for both crack cocaine and ketamine possession.

Schedules of controlled substances under Florida law are set out in Ch. 893.03, Fla. Stat. (2007). Some drugs can only be legally prescribed by a licensed physician or pharmacy; others, such as heroin and even marijuana, are never legal. Penalties for possession with intent to deliver, conveying, distributing, or selling substances on these schedules are particularly harsh; even relatively small quantities can get someone labeled a “trafficker” and locked in prison for years.

With such a frightening possibility ahead, you need the best defense you can get.
