Help from a Vero Beach Drug Arrest Lawyer
Earlier this month, five men in the Indian River County area of Florida were arrested on drug charges. The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team performed a raid on a home, uncovering a variety of illicit substances, including marijuana, cocaine and opiate pain killers, according to the police reports.
The deputies gained a search warrant on Thursday, August 15, 2019 and searched the home, which was located in the 6300 block of 85th Street in Wabasso, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Three men from the Vero Beach, Florida area, two of whom are 48 years old and the other aged 30, received charges of possession of cocaine and illegally selling cocaine while within 1,000 feet of a church.
While members of the SWAT team and K9 team entered the residence, several people got up and ran from the scene, according to the announcement made by the Sheriff’s Office. However, the other pair of men who fled were successfully located by a helicopter that came from the Sheriff’s Office.
Altogether, the members of the SWAT team located 72 grams of marijuana, 17.8 grams of cocaine and 28 grams of opiate pain killers, according to a report coming out of the Sheriff’s Office.
The two other men involved in the drug crimes, one of only 21 years old and from the 110 block of Aldea Drive in the Sebastian area and the other, 33 years old and from the 6400 block of 86th Street in Vero Beach, were both charged with the crime of resisting arrest.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, there is a good likelihood that there will be additional criminal charges added. The Indian River County Sheriff stated that his detectives were able to buy cocaine from the home in question multiple times while conducting the investigation. He added that they were subsequently able to arrest the sellers and put their operation to a close. He concluded that his team would continue to crack down on individuals selling these and other dangerous drugs and arrest them to keep the community safe.
Two of the men posted bond while the other three are either being held on $500,000 and no bond, respectively.
