On Monday, September 24, 2018, 15 people were arrested after around eight pounds of cocaine was seized. The arrests came after the St. Lucie County sheriff’s police concluded a thorough investigation in the northern portion of the Florida county.
The Sheriff’s Lieutenant reported that the operation occurred that past Thursday and Friday and that the investigation took place on Indrio Road, which is located near Interstate 95. He added that the investigation began after there were reports of a crime taking place by other officials.
The Lieutenant stated that his team began their investigation with the idea of targeting anything that appeared strange. He said there were many thefts in the area by a construction site, but they also spotted tire thefts and acts of vandalism.
The investigative team discovered the cocaine at around 11:20 p.m. that Thursday after stopping a Ford pickup truck. The officers reported that the truck had run a white cross bar by Emerson Avenue and Indrio Road, according to the arrest affidavit.
The driver of the pickup was a man who was 30 years old. Upon being stopped, he allowed the officers to do a search of his vehicle. From there, the investigators found several packages of the drug that came to around eight pounds total.
The driver and a passenger, a 29-year-old man, were both arrested for cocaine trafficking, which is a felony charge. Both men are from the Miami Gardens area of Florida.
The Sheriff’s Lieutenant said that the seizure goes to show what travels through the United States. He also pointed out that his team located LSD during a separate seizure. According to an estimation, the Lieutenant stated that the cocaine that was seized was worth around $140,000 and that one of the men arrested had several outstanding warrants. With such serious charges it is important for these men to obtain the services of a qualified Port Saint Lucie criminal attorney.
The Lieutenant added that the US Drug Enforcement Administration aided his team in the investigation and that the investigators issued 23 warnings and six traffic citations.
There were other people arrested as well, who reside in the Cutler Bay, Fort Pierce, Lehigh Acres, Miami, Miramar, Port St. Lucie and Vero Beach areas.
