A 39-year-old Port St. Lucie man was arrested at his home on the night of August 15 and charged with aggravated assault with a knife. The arrest is in connection with an alleged incident earlier that night at a Subway restaurant located on Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard.
The arrest report filed by police stated that the man entered the restaurant with his wife and children at approximately 8 p.m. From the time he entered, the man was alleged to be verbally abusive toward his family, the restaurant staff and the other patrons inside.
The man reportedly was critical of a Subway employee for providing a drink cup that was dirty and for not having his preferred soda. After the alleged berating continued, another customer insisted that the man stop making his comments.
That admonition, according to the arrest report, resulted in the man allegedly raising his voice and using foul language toward that person. At that point, the other customer was allegedly threatened with a knife, resulting in the individual’s belief that his life was being threatened.
After posting $3,750 bail, the man was soon released from St. Lucie County Jail, with a trial date pending.
The serious nature of the charges show that the man is in strong need of a Port St. Lucie criminal defense lawyer that possesses the background to strongly defend their client. Jonathan Jay Kirschner possesses that combination of ability and passion, qualities that can increase the chances of a positive verdict on his client’s behalf.
Angry public or private interactions with family or complete strangers can sometimes be misconstrued by the offended party. That can lead to overreactions that lead to an arrest, potentially damaging the freedom and reputation of the accused.
Kirschner is a strong advocate of the philosophy that every accused individual deserves to offer their side of the story in court. Too often, Kirschner has seen society often prematurely label these individuals as the guilty party, even though the circumstances connected to the incident may contradict that perceived belief.
