Arrests in West Palm, Fort Pierce Bank Robberies

Fort Pierce Criminal Defense AttorneyA Port St. Lucie man was arrested on the afternoon of September 6, and charged with robbery without using a firearm in connection with a Fort Pierce bank robbery earlier that morning. The arrest was the second that day involving a regional bank robbery, the other taking place earlier in West Palm Beach.

The arrest report indicated that the man allegedly threatened the teller at the Suntrust Bank branch at 700 Virginia Avenue by saying that he was holding an explosive device. In addition, he asked that no dye pack be placed inside to avoid easy identification later.

After a suspect was identified by an FBI Task Force and detectives from St. Lucie County Sheriff’s office, investigators arrested the man at his home. That identification came primarily from a bank surveillance video that indicated the bank robber was attempting to disguise his appearance by wearing a camouflage hat in the robbery.

That report also indicated that the man was wearing a watch similar to one the thief wore. In addition, the man was in possession of bills that matched the denominations taken from the bank. He remains in St. Lucie County jail on $100,000 bail.
