Okeechobee Music Festival Fan Arrested on Burglary Charge

On Friday, March 2, 2018, in the Fort Pierce, Florida area, a young man who was on his way to the Okeechobee Music Festival decided to take a side trip and ultimately ended that trip to jail after being arrested for burglary.

The man, who is 25 years of age, was arrested by the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. According to deputies, the individual broke into a home near the Fort Pierce area of Florida while the house’s resident was in the bathroom, taking a shower. The homeowner ended up spotting him, which led the man to take off running.

According to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Offices, deputies caught the man on the next street from the home he broke into and slapped handcuffs on him. The young man was wearing a wristband that would admit him into the Okeechobee Music Festival. However, he was also found to be carrying seven grams of powder cocaine. In addition to that find, the deputies also uncovered liquid LSD, 25 strips of LSD paper and a variety of drug paraphernalia in the individual’s vehicle. The man admitted that he had been on his way to the music festival.

Following his arrest, the man is facing a number of criminal charges. He was charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling, assault while intending to do harm, fleeing from law enforcement and eluding the officers, resisting a police officer with violence, possession of cocaine while intending to sell it, possession of a hallucinogen with the intention of selling it and possession of drug paraphernalia. At the moment, the main is being held in the St. Lucie County jail and has a bond of $72,000.

Last year, the police made a crackdown of drugs on the highway in the St. Lucie County area that lasted two days. This took place before the Okeechobee Music Festival occurred. During that time, the police made a total of 99 arrests.
