Fla. Rep Arrested for DUI

Last week, Tallahassee police charged Florida Rep. Dane Eagle, R-Cape Coral, with a DUI. Rep. Eagle was found driving a black SUV at approximately 1:50 a.m. and was leaving a Taco Bell. Tallahassee police noticed that the SUV struck a median on the road. After striking the median, the SUV turned around and crossed into the intersection of Caliark Street and Tennessee.

The Tallahassee police continued to observe the vehicle as it struck another curb near a Papa John’s Pizza. After observing this, authorities pulled the SUV over. An officer states that he could smell the odor of alcohol from the vehicle. The officer also noticed the strong odor of alcohol coming from the individual’s breath. While the Rep. denied drinking any alcohol, police stated that the individual’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy.

The Rep. was arrested for a DUI after he refused to take a sobriety or breathalyzer test. The Rep. may require the assistance of a Tallahassee criminal lawyer if he plans on challenging any of the evidence obtained by police officers. A DUI criminal lawyer may be able to challenge the admission of any evidence that is in violation of Florida laws.

Being convicted of a DUI may have serious consequences for an individual. In Florida, an individual may have to pay high fines or face jail time as a result of receiving a DUI conviction.
