Hiring a Port Saint Lucie Aggravated Assault Lawyer
A high school student from the Port St. Lucie area of Florida was recently arrested after he had threatened another student. The 15-year-old threatened to stab the other student in the throat with a knife.
According to the police, the student brought three knives to school with him as a way of retaliating against another who had allegedly been bullying him for some time.
Other students who were witnesses promptly reported the threat to school administrators. By 7:30 that morning, someone contacted a school resource officer. Afterward, police came to the high school to investigate the matter.
According to the police, the school resource officer found the student in a class. It was discovered that he had a knife in his pocket while the other two were stashed in his backpack.
According to the Assistant Chief of Police, the young man claimed to have been bullied for a period of time by the other teen who he threatened to stab. The suspect stated the bullying didn’t only happen in person at school, but also online via social media and that he had enough and wanted to put an end to it.
The Assistant Chief of Police further stated that no violence had taken place and that the suspect was arrested without any problem. The teen aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a felony charge, as well as additional charges and a misdemeanor for possession of a concealed weapon.
The claim that the suspect was bullied is being investigated by the Port St. Lucie police and school administrators.
The Assistant Chief of Police stressed that many of these incidents occur because of bullying. He urged kids to come forward if they are in such a situation.
The three knives were described as a six-inch exotic knife, folding knife and wooded-assisted opening knife.
