Man Arrested for Attacking Uncle with Toilet Seat
In one of the strangest cases in the history of the state, a man from the St. Lucie area of Florida was arrested after attacking his uncle with a toilet seat lid, according to authorities.The young man, who is 20 years old and named Norris Troutman, was arrested shortly after the attack, which occurred on Thursday, January 9, 2014. He was charged with aggravated battery, according to a report by the St. Lucie County Sherrif’s office that was obtained by TCPalm.com.
The report included information about how a deputy responded to a call to Troutman’s home in Fort Pierce, Florida after the incident. The deputy met with the uncle who was attacked with the toilet seat. The uncle stated that he had been relaxing and watching television and then suddenly heard noises that appeared to be someone running from the bathroom down to the hallway.
The man became startled and also reported that his nephew Norris had grabbed the toilet seat off of the window sill in his bathroom and began hitting him with it, most notably in the back of the head.
According to the 48 year old uncle, the attack was completely unprovoked. Norris Troutman admitted that he hit his uncle because he was “mocking him,” according to the sherrif’s report. He was arrested and booked to jail, remaining there until Monday, January 13, 2014. According to records, he was held on a $20,000 bond.
