6 women arrested in prostitution sting in Fort Pierce

Fort Pierce prostitution sting nets six arrests

In a prostitution sting that arose out of complaints about women knocking on doors at area truck stops and motels, six women were arrested by the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies focused their efforts on a relatively small commercial area around the Florida Turnpike, Interstate 95 and motels near or along Okeechobee Road. Some of the women arrested had been prosecuted for prostitution charges in the past. They ranged in age from 19 to 47.

Other crimes go along with prostitution

A Sheriff’s Office spokesman related that some people might minimize the crime of prostitution because it’s ordinarily charged as a misdemeanor, but it can also be charged as a felony. He also advised that with the crime of prostitution, other crimes like drug possession, thefts and armed robbery come along with it. One of the arrestees told police that it was at least her seventh prostitution arrest.
